PARIS, Ill. --- The Edgar County Sheriff's Department in Paris, Illinois reports that a suspicious Terre Haute man came inside the building armed and identifying himself as a federal agent with the Department of Defense Saturday morning.
Justin Hefner, 40, was taken into custody and bookeded into the jail with the assistance of Paris Police Department officers at the scene. He is charged with impersonating a public safety officer, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of body armor.
Hefner's "investagor" badge reportedly was barely showing and his pistol was visibile in a holster when he entered the building around 10 a.m. A subsequent search of the suspect vehicle revealed multiple items such as flashing police lights, dash cam, armor, weapoons and ammunition, according to the press release. Further investigation revealed Hefner operates a radical Facebook page, Constitutional Wounded Warriors. On the page, he allegedly made direct threats to "people" in Edgar County prior to the incident. He remains held on $20,000 bond. The FBI and Homeland Security have been notified of the incident.
