By Lucy Perry News Writer Indiana Central News Emergency crews responded to a nursing home fire on the north side of Terre Haute Thursday evening. More than 20 patients reportedly were moved to a another area in the building, located just off N. Third Street and Ft. Harrison Road, after staff called 911 to report seeing smoke in a hallway. Terre Haute city buses were also dispatched to assist at the scene. The incident occurred just as a storm moved through the city, around 7:30 p.m. Thunder and lightning were noted in the area when crews arrived on scene. According to scanner traffic, smoke was observed coming from the attic in the rear area of the facility upon firefighters' and paramedics' arrival. Many family members and staff also arrived on scene to receive more information on the situation and updates their loved ones. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
