A Terre Haute Police Department shooting investigation has led to the arrest of two suspects in what has transformed into a homicide case --- after officials confirmed tonight the victim died in an area hospital just hours after being shot in the abdomen on the north side of the city this morning. THPD detectives, assisted by other agencies, were able to locate the two suspects allegedly connected to the shooting death of, Katie Nash, 28, of Terre Haute, later in the day, after they reportedly fled the shooting scene in a blue 2008 Dodge Caravan to a residence in West Terre Haute.
Information later confiming the victim’s death [at around 6 p.m.] will require review by the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office Tuesday for possible amendment on homicide-related charges, THPD Chief John Plasse explained.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the shooting at about 10:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of Fourth Avenue where the victim was found with an apparent gunshot wound.
According to the report, the two suspects -- Price and Fulford -- were eventually located at the West Terre Haute residence, after Information became available leading detectives to the location of the in the 2900 block of Mary Lane Avenue at around 4 p.m. The suspect vehicle was parked outside and possible evidence was found inside the house, including a weapon. "The firearm believed to be used in the shooting was recovered from a bedroom of the house," Plasse said. The shooting investigation began when the victim, Nash, was transported to a Terre Haute hospital for treatment of gunshot wound- related injuries just after 10:30 a.m. Detectives reportedly learned that the victim had succumbed to her injuries as officers were continuing the investigation at the West Terre Haute residence. The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Marshall’s Task Force and the Terre Haute Police Special Response Team assisted THPD detectives in the arrests of both suspects in connection to the homicide. --- See related story Comments are closed.
