Indiana Central News A 24-year-old man was found dead at a home on the city's north side this afternoon from an apparent carbon monoxide poisoning. Andrew Johnson was dead when personnel from the Terre Haute Fire Department and Terre Haute Police Department arrived at his home in the 1500 block of Third Avenue. His cause of death has not been determined. However, officials reportedly discovered dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in the residence. According to Sgt. Michael Ellerman, Central Dispatch received the initial call around 4 p.m. THFD medics and THPD officers, equipped with AED’s (Automated External Defibrilators) responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the crews' carbon monoxide detectors began alarming and showing "very high levels," according to the report. The residence was evacuated and the crews ventilated the building to safely continue the investigation. The carbon monoxide danger reportedly was limited to inside the home and did not present further threat to the area. An autopsy to determine the cause of death for Johnson is scheduled for Wednesday. Comments are closed.
