Indiana Central News In the early stages of an Amber Alert process, an allegedly armed and dangerous Terre Haute man was taken into custody by officers of the Terre Haute Police Department this evening. James J. Denny Sr,22, was apprehended at around 7 p.m., about 15 minutes after the 1-and-a-half -year -old child was located and reported to be unharmed. Denny was booked into the Vigo Co. Jail at 9:20 p.m., where he is charged with battery by means of a deadly weapon, domestic battery committed in pesence of a child, criminal recklessness,intimidation and pointing a firearm. According to the report, THPD officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Maple Avenue to the report of an alleged abduction of the toddler at around 3:30 p.m. Public Information Officer Ryan Adamson explained that Denny allegedly battered the mother of their young daughter, and fired several rounds from a gun into the house just before leaving the residence with their 18 -month- old child. He noted that Denny made threats to hurt the child and himself at that time. "During the investigation, the gun used in this incident was located by investigators.
