UPDATE 8/23/16 -- Victim ID'ed as Ashley A. McMickle, 25 of Brazil."Investigators were able to match multiple tattoos and jewelry to known photographs of McMickle," THPD Chief Shawn Keen said, adding that the victim's family has been notified.

A  dead body believed to be female was located at the scene of a northside fire this morning in Terre Haute.

Officers of the Terre Haute Police Department were sent to  the scene of the structure fire at 2353 N. 24th St. to conduct a homicide investigation at about 7 a.m., according to Chief of Police Shawn Keen  More information will be released as the investigation permits, he said. The Terre Haute Fire Department  is investigating the cause of the fire.
