![]() By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News A local man is in jail following a Terre Haute Police Department robbery investigation Friday morning. Dameon M. Burks, 40, was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 12:30 p.m. He is charged with robbery while armed with a deadly weapon and theft. The investigation began when officers were dispatched to the Phillips 66 gas station, located at N. Third Street and Third Avenue, just before 6 a.m. According to the THPD, the suspect allegedly robbed the convenience store while threatening the clerk with a large knife. He fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money prior to officers' arrival. The officers were able to identify the suspect while viewing video of the incident. Officers reportedly recognized the suspect as Burks from prior incidents as they reviewed the surveillance footage of the robbery. A search warrant was issued for Burks' residence a short time later, where several items were found --- connecting Burks to the robbery, a THPD spokesman said. No injuries were reported in the robbery. Burks remains held in the jail on $35,000 bond, no 10 percent allowed. He is scheduled to appear in Div. 6 Superior Court Monday afternoon. Comments are closed.
