Indiana Central News A standoff ended peacefully in Sullivan County, hours after the suspect allegedly kidnapped his own wife from a beauty school in Terre Haute -- where she attends classes. Kyle M. Mulkins, 21, of Illinois, was booked into the Vigo County Jail at around 5:30 p.m. He faces several charges in connection to the reported abduction, including: Kidnapping, criminal confinement, criminal recklessness, domestic battery and invasion of privacy. ![]()
The victim reportedly suffered minor injuries in the incident, which began as a domestic issue. She was allegedly abducted at Harrold Beauty Academy at 22nd Street and Wabash Avenue. Officers of the Terre Haute Police Department located the suspect at a Farmersburg residence, where he was found hiding and was reportedly armed with a guns.
Assistant Chief Shawn Keen explained that the investigation into the alleged abduction was underway after the victim was located at about 1 p.m. Negotiators, including the suspect's mother, helped talk Mulkins into eventually surrendering at the residence -- at around 3:30 p.m. Multiple agencies assisted the Terre Haute Special Response Team at the scene, including DNR law enforcement, Vigo County Sheriff's Office and Sullivan County Sheriff's Office. -- See related story Comments are closed.
