Indiana Central News A man is dead following an early morning stabbing at a bar located on Terre Haute's north side, where officials say he was fatally attacked during an argument with another man. Eddie Jermaine Stewart, 42, of Terre Haute, was booked into the Vigo County Jail at about 10:30 a.m. following a Terre Haute Police Department investigation. Stewart is charged with the murder of 52-year-old Carlos L. Vinson. According to Chief of Police John Plasse, responding officers found Vinson outside of the bar, lying unresesponsive on the parking lot of the Dew Drop Inn at North 19th Street. Further investigation revealed the suspect and victim had been involved in a verbal argument just before the victim was injured.Witnesses were able to describe the suspect. "Additional officers responded to the scene and discovered an unresponsive male bleeding from what appeared to be stab wounds on the parking lot of the bar," Plasse said, explaining that Terre Haute Fire Department personnel transported the victim to Union Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Emergency crews were dispatched to the bar on reports of shots fired and a stabbing at around 1:30 a.m. The Vigo County Central Dispatch gave a description of a suspect vehicle fleeing the scene. THPD officers were able to quickly locate the suspect vehicle at N. 19th Street and Eighth Avenue within minutes of the call going out, Plasse said. The case is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Terre Haute Police Department at (812) 238-1661. Comments are closed.
