Indiana Central News A 73-year-old man was hospitalized this evening after being thrown from his vehicle as it rolled past a retaining wall and crashed to the ground at a senior living apartment complex on Terre Haute's east side. Danny Corbett, resident of Sycamore Manor on S. 25th and Ohio Streets, suffered non life-threatening injuries in the one-vehicle crash at about 7 p.m., according Sgt. Michael Ellerman, of the Terre Haute Police Department. "Witnesses said the vehicle had driven over a retaining wall/ledge from a parking area and the driver had been thrown from the vehicle," Ellerman said. The victim reportedly thought he had placed the vehicle in park, when the vehicle instead began to move forward as he was reaching out the door to pick up an item. He could not regain control of the vehicle and was thrown from the vehicle as it crashed to the ground. "The retaining wall was approximately 6- feet high and the vehicle continued on for several feet, after driving off the ledge, before rolling to a stop," Ellerman explained. Terre Haute Fire Department assisted at the scene. Comments are closed.
