Indiana Central News Two men were taken into custody following a standoff with police on Terre Haute's north side tonight. The Terre Haute Police Department Special Response Team responded to the area surrounding a home in the 1800 block of N. 24th Street on a report of a man barricaded inside with a gun. The two men ultimately were arrested on outstanding warrants at the scene. A juvenile was reportedly removed from the home. According to the THPD, officers were sent the 1800 block of N 24th Street to assist the Department of Child Services with an investigation around 9 p.m. "While at the residence, they observed a male arm himself with a handgun inside and then observed him turn off the lights. Officers pulled back, and the Special Response Team and negotiators have been activated to resolve the incident," a statement from the THPD reads. The scene was cleared around 11 p.m/ and the investigation is ongoing. Indiana State Police assisted at the scene. Comments are closed.
