Indiana Central News Quick action by Capt. Ed Tompkins, of the Terre Haute Police Department, helped save a newborn baby's life on the city's southside tonight, officials say. According to the report, crews were dispatched to the 800 block of South 14th Street just before 6 p.m., where the one-week-old infant was described as unesponsive. "After performing chest compressions and several rescue breaths, the baby started breathing again," THPD Public Information Officer Ryan Adamson said. Adamson explained that Tompkins just happened to be near the residence due to working operation pullover at the time of the incident and rushed to help. The baby was unresponsive and not breathing when Tompkins arrived to the scene. He was transported to a local hospital shortly after Tompkins initiated CPR. Adamson said he is listed in stable condition and foul play is not suspected. Comments are closed.
