By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News Police say a screwdriver-wielding shoplifter was arrested after allegedly threatening a gas station clerk who confronted him about the theft Wednesday afternoon. Derrick W. Wilson, 35, was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 6 p.m. He is charged with robbery. Terre Haute Police Department officers responded to the Marathon Gas Station at S. Third and Poplar Streets just after 4:30 p.m. When approached by the clerk regarding allegedly stolen items, Wilson became hostile --- allegedly threatening to kill the employee and another man present at the scene. Wilson reportedly brandished a screwdriver at that time. "He then pulled out a screwdriver, at which time he made threats of stabbing the man and returning later to do the same to the clerk," according to the report. He fled the scene prior to police arrival. Officers ultimately located the suspect at S. Seventh and Oak Streets and took him into custoday. Wilson is set to appear in Div.1 Superior Court Thursday morning. Comments are closed.
