Indiana Central News Officials are concerned about a recent spike in local heroin-related overdose deaths. In fact, Public Information Officer Ryan Adamson, of the Terre Haute Police Department, explained there have been several fatal heroin overdoses in the last week. Entire communities often suffer the consequences of drug abuse. Adamson said users are taking risks each time they experiment with illegal drugs and encourages family and friends to look for signs of a problem that potentially could result in death. "We are asking the Wabash Valley community to keep an extra close eye on family members, friends, and other loved ones," Adamson said, noting that THPD officers carry Narcan, a life-saving medication that can block the effects of opioids, reversing an overdose. Call 911 if overdose is suspected. -- For more information on the heroin epidemic, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website. Comments are closed.
