Indiana Central News A Terre Haute Police Department shooting investigation is underway after an Indianapolis man sought treatment for a gunshot wound early this morning. A shooting suspect has not been identified in the case. THPD officers responded to a local hospital on the report of a victim, an Indiana State University student, needing treatment medical treatment after being shot at about 2 a.m. Devin D. Brockington, 23, reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to his leg in the alley in the 800 block of Elm Street, just behind the 7th & Elm bar. However, officials have not connected the incident to the bar. THPD Sgt. Michael Ellerman said this afternoon that the injuries are not life threatening. He noted that Brockington also suffered abrasions and other related injuries to his legs. The victim was found needing assistance in the alley, just north of ISU's campus. "He said that he never saw the shooter; and the witnesses told officers that they found him stumbling and bleeding in the alley and they then took him to the hospital for treatment," Elllerman said. Brockington allegedly was in possession of marijuana and was cited during the investigation. He is scheduled to appear in Terre Haute City Court at a later date, according to the report. If anyone has information about this shooting they are asked to call the Terre Haute Police Department at 812-238-1661, or Crime Stoppers at 812-238-STOP. -- See related story Comments are closed.
