Indiana Central News A Terre Haute Police Department investigation has resulted in the arrest of one woman on several charges in connection to a recent hit-and-run crash with her young child involved. Amber Torres, 24, of Terre Haute, was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 2 p.m. yesterday, after THPD officers located her at the Regency Inn. She is charged with felony criminal recklessness, felony neglect of a dependant, misdemeanor resisting law enforcement, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, misdemeanor leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and misdemeanor operator never licensed. The victim informed police that the mother of their young child, Torres, allegedly confronted him at a local fast food restaurant parking lot late yesterday morning. He informed police that Torres became angry and struck his vehicle in the parking lot several times. He also alleges she stuck his vehicle again while he was waiting in traffic on Walnut Street, causing him to strike another vehicle, Public Information Officer Ryan Adamson said. According to the report, officers were dispatched to the McDonalds restaurant on South Third and Walnut Streets in reference to a hit -and- run crash yesterday at about 11 a.m. Their child reportedly was restrained in his car seat at the time of the confrontation. Torres initially removed their son out of her car and set his car seat with him in it, on top of the victim’s car. "Torres told the victim she was leaving their son there and the victim was to take him. After a short argument, Torres retrieved the child and put him back into her car," Adamson said, adding that is when Torres began to ram the victim’s vehicle with her van. Comments are closed.
