Indiana Central News A Vigo County Sheriff's Office investigation into multiple recent thefts from vehicles has led to the arrest of one woman after she allegedly stole items from a vehicle this morning. Leigha J. Hendrix, 23, was booked into the Vigo County Jail at 11 a.m. and charged with theft after the victim reportedly used an I-phone application to locate his stolen I Pad in the same neighborhood. According to the report, VCSO deputies responded to a report of theft at a residence on West India Drive located in Prairie Park Subdivision at about 7 a.m., just after the victim reported that someone had stolen items from his unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours. Hendrix consented to a search of her residence when approached by detectives at a residence located at 1877 W. Belmont Drive, Chief Deputy John Moats explained. "As the detectives entered the home, they not only found all of the victim’s property but also several other items possibly belonging to other residents in the same neighborhood. Those items include a handgun, check books, credit cards, laptop, GPS device, and miscellaneous items," Moats said, adding that Hendrix then admitted to entering eight to ten unlocked cars during the early morning hours and taking all of the items found. The Sheriff’s Office asks that if you live in Prairie Park Subdivision and find items stolen from your car please call Detective Michael Ellsworth at 812-462-3226 Ext. 7326. Comments are closed.
