![]() By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News WEST TERRE HAUTE -- A West Terre Haute man is facing multiple charges after allegedly battering and sexually assaulting his fiancee in their home Tuesday. Edward V. Wilson, 33, was taken into custody following a multi-agency police standoff and booked into the Vigo Co. Jail around 9 p.m. He is charged with domestic battery with serious injury, confinement, rape, sexual battery, maintaining a common nuisance, intimidation, interference in reporting of a crime, dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana. Wilson allegedly beat and threatened to kill the woman while he was on drug binge. According to the probable cause affidavit, filed by Deputy George McAdams, of the Vigo County Sheriff's Office, the victim alleges Wilson was under the influence of meth and pills. He became more and more agitated, yelling at the victim before lashing out at her physically. He allegedly got "very mad and battered her in the face and also tried to have sex with her" --- before digitally penetrating her against her will, according to the court documents. Emergency crews were dispatched to the residence after a neighbor called 911. Investigation revealed the couple had been arguing earlier in the day. It later escalated into the violent outburst. The victim reportedly grabbed a knife to stop the alleged sexual assault. She told officers she cut him on his arm with the knife. She also told investigators Wilson tried to set the house on fire as he took their two young children and fled from the scene. She went to her sister's nearby residence to seek help. She sought medical treatment at the emergency room of a local hospital for injuries suffered in the battery. The suspect also was treated at a local hospital for stab wounds before being released to police custody. Wilson was later found at a friend's residence and ultimately surrendered to officers after the Terre Haute Special Response Team was called to assist at the scene. The standoff lasted about two hours. The children, ages 3 and 5, were released to the care of a family member. During a subsequent search of the residence, detectives found multiple items associated with a marijuana growing operation, including eight plants at the bottom of a closet. Wilson remains held in the jail on $50,000 bond, no 10 percent allowed. He is scheduled to appear in Div. 6 Superior Court Monday. Comments are closed.
