--- A Terre Haute man was booked into the Vigo County Jail in connection to several area burglaries yesterday afternoon after a victim noticed his allegedly stolen items setting outside of a northside residence. Dustin L. Balder, 25, is charged with three counts of burglary – a Level 4 felony; auto theft – a level 6 felony; and three counts of theft – a level 6 felony. Chief Deputy John Moats, of the Vigo County Sheriff's Office, confirmed that VCSO detectives received information from a victim of a recent burglary that he had driven by a property in a yard located at 212 Hancock Street, near Eighth Avenue earlier in the day. He described stolen items to detectives. In fact, the victim was able to identify a unique fuel tank that had been left out in the yard, Moats said. Detective Jason Fischer obtained a search warrant for the property after no one inside the residence would open the door when detectives knocked. The suspect was found inside. “A subsequent search of the residence produced several stolen items which consisted of miscellaneous tools, a Lincoln Mig welder, a 2003 Honda ATV and the keys to a 2013 Ford F-150 truck that was later located in the parking lot of a local hotel,” Moats said. He is scheduled to appear before Superior Court Judge Michael J. Lewis tomorrow. Comments are closed.
