Indiana Central News One man is in custody following a standoff on the city's north side this afternoon. Austin Wilson, 35, of Terre Haute, was taken into custody after eventually coming out of an upstairs window by using a ladder around 3 p.m.,, a nearby resident told Indiana Central News. Wilson was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 6 p.m. on a warrant for intimidation, residential entry and strangulation. The neighbor of the suspect alerted Indiana Central News to the developing situation around noon. Terre Haute Police Department officers arrived to the home on N. 13 1/2 Street near Locust Street to serve a felony arrest warrant. The man became argumentative with officers, saying he didn't want to go back to jail. He was ultimately taken into custody a short time after the Special Response Team arrived to assist at the scene. The neighbor reported that he could see officers, from his view on his front porch, carrying tools, including a sledgehammer and a ladder to the suspect's residence. He later observed officers carrying bags of contents out of the house as well as two black suitcases, he said. More information will be provided once it becomes available. Comments are closed.
