Indiana Central News Emergency crews responded to a truck versus scooter crash in the northbound lanes of South US 41, near Pimento Circle this morning, with injuries reported. Danny J. Elkins, 53, of West Terre Haute, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of shoulder and back injuries suffered from being thrown from the pink scooter. According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts, Brock E. Megenhardt, 18, of Coal City, was northbound in his 2013 Ford F350 truck at about 8:30 a.m. He was traveling in the driving lane of US 41 approaching Pimento Circle when the crash occurred. "A car in front of Megenhardt moved into the passing lane, suddenly revealing a slow moving 2011 Taotao brand scooter. Megenhardt’s vehicle then struck the Elkins scooter in the rear, ejecting Elkins onto the roadway," Watts said. Watts notes that drugs/alcohol were not a factor in this crash and the victim was wearing a helmet at the time. The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Courtland Woodruff. Assisting were ISP Lt. Mark Tow and Master Troopers Ritch Reynolds and Matt Ames, ISP Motor Carrier Inspector Donald Aldrich, Honey Creek Fire/Rescue, and Trans Care EMS. Comments are closed.
