By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News A pedestrian was transported to a local hospital after being struck by a van pulling out from the Vigo County Courthouse parking lot this morning. Emergency crews responded to Ohio Street, just east of South Third Street, at about 10:30 a.m. A witness told Indiana Central News that a woman was struck by the blue Toyota van as it drove fast out onto the one-way street. She said the victim is a coworker with whom she works at the Adult Probation Office, just across the street. It was noted that employees typically cross the street with files a couple times a day as part of routine job responsibilities with the courts. Terre Haute Fire Department personnel assisted the Terre Haute Police Department at the scene and transported the victim to the hospital. Injuries are not known at this time. More information will be provided once it becomes available. --- UPDATED: According to THPD Public Information Officer Ryan Adamson, the driver, not seeing traffic, continued to pull out from the parking lot onto Ohio after stopping at a stop sign when the van struck the pedestrian. Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to call the Terre Haute Police Department at 812-238-1661 or message THPD on Facebook/Twitter. Comments are closed.
